Zee5 Clarity on Copyright Violation!
Leading OTT platform Zee5 has issued an official clarification on the controversy surrounding the web series case of ‘Viratapalem: PC Meena Reporting’. Zee5 has given a clarification on this matter. A person named Prashanth Dimmala has filed a case against the script writer of their Telugu original series “Viratapalem: PC Meena Reporting” alleging copyright infringement. Zee5 has noted that even though the matter is in court, he held a press conference and made public statements despite knowing that he should not speak publicly until the court verdict.
Zee5 clarified that in compliance with the court’s interim order dated 25.06.25, to show their honesty, Prashanth Dimmala was given an opportunity to watch the series in advance. This allowed him to assess for himself what similarities there were with his script. However, instead of utilizing this opportunity, Prashanth Dimmala and others held a live media conference and spread misinformation about Zee5.
Zee5 has denied the allegations made by Prashant Dimmala against the Zee5 Original Series "Viratapalem: PC Meena Reporting". Zee5 believes that by making these allegations without any evidence of copyright infringement, he has attempted to tarnish Zee5's reputation. Zee5 said that it has already initiated legal action against Dimmala and his associates, considering these actions irresponsible and negligent.
