Joju George controversy in Mollywood!
Mollywood actor Joju George... In a recent interview with 'The New Indian Express', he spoke about his experience shooting for the film 'Churuli' and the controversy that arose after its release. Joju alleged that he was misled about the use of obscene language in the film, that the version would be used only for awards and then released to the public. He also alleged that he was not paid remuneration, was not informed about these decisions, and that the language in the film caused him mental stress.
Recently.. Filmmaker Lizzo Jose Pellisserie broke her silence and released a statement responding to the allegations made by Joju George. These allegations have become a topic of discussion in the last few days. In her statement, Lizzo said that she is giving this clarification due to the difficulties faced by the producers. He said that the film 'Churuli' has an 'A' certificate and has not been released in cinemas so far. He said that they have discussed it with the relevant committee and there is also a High Court verdict regarding the use of language in the film. Denying the allegation of misleading Joju, he said, “No one remembers misleading you while making this film.” He implied that Joju had a good understanding of the language for his role.
On the matter of remuneration, Lijo said that Chembosky Motion Pictures has documented the details of payments made to Joju for a three-day guest role. According to the ledger for the financial year 2019–2020, Joju was paid a total of Rs 5,90,000. This includes Rs 5,00,000 as artist fee and Rs 45,000 each under GST.
Lijo said that ‘Churuli’ is currently streaming on SonyLIV and will be released in theaters if the opportunity arises. In this science fiction mystery thriller, two undercover cops go to a remote village called Churuuli in search of a fugitive. There they find themselves trapped in a strange, surreal world, where the villagers' behavior is unpredictable, and the boundaries of reality become blurred. The film premiered at the International Film Festival of Kerala, where it received widespread acclaim. Many critics and film fans praised it as a bold and engaging film, but it also sparked controversy due to its vulgar language.
