Dhanush's 56th film has started!

Kollywood star hero Dhanush and variety film director Mari Selvaraj have previously worked together on the film ‘Karnan’. On the occasion of the completion of four years of the film’s release today, the duo has announced their second film together. The film, tentatively titled D56, is said to be set in a period setting. The project has been given a good start with the tagline “Roots Begin a Great War”.

On this occasion, director Mari Selvaraj released a special look on social media. He also shared a photo of himself and Dhanush together. “I am very emotional on this day, as the journey with Karnan has completed four years. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has loved and supported Karnan for these four years,” Mari Selvaraj said in the post.

More details about this project will be revealed soon. However, it has already been confirmed that the film will be produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under the banner of Wells Film International. Dhanush - Mari Selvaraj's previous collaboration, 'Karnan', was released in 2021 and was a huge success. The film powerfully showcases the struggle of Karnan, a young man from a lower caste community, for the people of his village. The main theme of this story is the movement for social justice, harassment by the authorities, and the rights of the villagers.

Apart from Dhanush, the film also stars actors like Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, Yogi Babu, and Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli in key roles. As for Dhanush's current work front, his social thriller film 'Kubera' is set to release on June 20, 2025. He also has films like 'Idli Kadai' and 'Teri Ishq Mein' in his lineup.
