Shock for 'Pushpa 2' on TV!

Icon star Allu Arjun and director Sukumar's combination 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' became a sensational hit at the box office and set rare records in the history of Indian cinema. It collected around Rs. 1800 crores and raised the prestige of Indian cinema internationally. However, when the same film premiered on television, it did not get the expected response.

Despite the grand premiere on Star Maa Channel, special interviews, exclusive footage, etc., ‘Pushpa 2’ got only 12.6 TRP rating. It is noteworthy that this is on par with a flop movie like ‘Naa Peru Surya’ in Bunny’s career. In the past, movies like Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (29.4), Pushpa 1 (22.5), and DJ (21.7) have achieved huge ratings on TV. Compared to them, ‘Pushpa 2’s rating is disappointing.

Analysts believe there are several reasons for this development. OTT platforms are reducing interest in TV premieres. Piracy and telecasts of films while they are playing in theaters have all damaged the TV viewer experience. Viewers are now increasingly using the opportunity to watch content on OTT at their convenience. If this trend continues, there is a risk that the demand for satellite rights will decrease.
