Protest against 'Thug Life'

A controversy has erupted over the release of Kamal Haasan's film 'Thug Life' in Karnataka. Kamal's comments at a recent pre-release event that Kannada was born from Tamil faced strong opposition from political parties as well as the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC).
But Kamal Haasan did not back down, saying, 'I will apologize only if I make a mistake, I spoke with love'. This will further intensify the controversy. Protests continue in Karnataka to stop 'Thug Life'. In these circumstances, a petition has been filed in the Karnataka High Court on behalf of Kamal Haasan's production company Raj Kamal Films International, seeking to ensure that the release of 'Thug Life' is not hindered.
They have asked for orders to include the state government, police department, and various departments including the film chamber as respondents and provide adequate security for the screening of the film. There is excitement over the court's verdict. While preparations are underway for the nationwide release of 'Thug Life' on June 5, there is no clarity on the release in Karnataka. There are huge expectations on this film, which will see the Kamal Haasan - Mani Ratnam combo coming together after almost 37 years.
