Modi's double Diwali gift to the middle class

In his Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an important announcement on the problems of the middle class and wage earners. He said that this year will be a “double Diwali” for the country and he said that GST reforms and tax cuts will be provided. The government will announce new GST guidelines and reduce taxes by Diwali. He said that these measures will reduce the prices of essential consumer goods and strengthen the economy. He expressed confidence that people will get some relief due to this.
The Prime Minister said that GST slabs will be revised to make daily necessities more affordable. He said that his aim is to make normal family life easier and encourage spending. As a Diwali gift, he said that a special committee will be formed to prepare the next GST changes. He reminded that major changes were made in GST eight years ago. He said that now it is time to hold discussions with the states, make changes in the existing rules and revise the GST and tax system.
Modi reminded that currently, income up to ₹12 lakh per year is exempt from tax. He expressed confidence that with public support, these upcoming reforms will provide lasting economic benefits to the common man.
