The 2025 summer season in Tollywood ended on a dull note. Big budget films were released less. Most films did not impress at the box office as expected. The summer holiday period ended on June 12. However, two films that came after the summer gave some relief to the industry. “Kubera” directed by Sekhar Kammula, released on June 20, and “Kannappa” by Manchu Vishnu, released on June 27, achieved strong openings at the box office. Now the focus has shifted to the monsoon season. Along with a big film in July, two good mid-range films are coming.

Thammudu – July 04

Nithin has high expectations on the film “Thammudu”. This film is made with a storyline that mixes action and social message with the sentiment of Akka Tammudu. The film is being directed by Sriram Venu of “Vakeel Saab” fame and is being produced by Dil Raju. Promotions are in full swing.

Nithiin has been seen less in promotional activities as his recent films have not performed as expected. However, Dil Raju is confident that the film will impress the audience.

Laya, a popular heroine in the 2000s, is making a re-entry in the role of Nithiin’s sister. Kannada actress Sapthami Gowda of “Kantara” fame is making her debut as a heroine in Tollywood. Music is also being provided by Ajaneesh Loknath of ‘Kantara’ fame.

Ghaati – July 11

Anushka Shetty and director Krish have collaborated again after “Vedam”. This time Krish has made “Ghati” based on the ganja smuggling trade in the Uttarandhra region.

Anushka is playing the role of a powerful don who runs a cannabis business, showing a bold transformation in her screen persona. Anushka, who is making a re-entry into films after a gap of two years, is creating a good buzz for the film. “Ghati” is likely to score a big opening at the box office.

On the same day, on July 11, Suhas’s “O Bhama Ayyo Rama” is also set to release. Suhas, who recently disappointed at the box office, is hoping to make a comeback with this film.

Junior – July 18

Sreelilah-starrer “Junior” is primarily made for the Kannada audience, but interestingly, this film is being made with an entirely Telugu team. Politician and businessman Gali Janardhana Reddy’s son Kiriti is making his debut as a hero with this film. Srililah is playing the female lead.

Telugu director Radhakrishna is directing this film, while Rajini Korrapati is producing it under the Varahi Chalana Chitra banner. Music is by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Senthil Kumar of “Baahubali” fame. Genelia of “Bommarillu” fame is playing a key role. Although made in Kannada, the film is shot in Telugu style.

Harihara Veera Mallu – July 24

If there is one big film that is being awaited the most in July, it is Pawan Kalyan’s “Harihara Veera Mallu”. The film, which has been in production for almost four years, has faced a change of director from Krish to Jyothi Krishna and several postponements. However, Pawan Kalyan is there. So, this film will create a huge craze when it is released.

This film is the first film in which Pawan Kalyan acted as the Deputy CM of Andhra Pradesh. Set in the Mughal era, the film revolves around the story of Veera Mallu, who rebels against Emperor Aurangzeb. With Pawan Kalyan's current political stand on Sanatan Dharma, the plot is likely to attract audiences across the country.

This is the second film to show the dark side of Aurangzeb after the recent blockbuster "Chhaava". Bobby Deol is playing the role of Aurangzeb. Nidhhi Agarwal plays the female lead, while Oscar winner M.M. Keeravani is composing music for Pawan's film for the first time. "Hari Hara Veera Mallu", the last big release in July, is likely to end the month with huge box office collections.
