Manoj Kumar passed away

Bollywood actor and director Manoj Kumar (87) has passed away. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai due to old age and illness.

Manoj Kumar's real name is Harikrishna Goswami. He made his debut on the silver screen in 1957 with the film 'Fashion'. After that, he gained recognition with films like 'Kaanch Ki Gudiya' and later earned a special recognition in the Indian film industry with films like 'Upkar, Purab Aur Paschim, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan'. He gave more importance to patriotic themes in his films. That is why the audience grew to the point of lovingly calling him 'Bharat Kumar'.

Manoj Kumar, who announced a break from acting in 1999, has influenced Bollywood as an actor, director, and writer during his long film career. For his services to the film industry, Manoj Kumar was honored by the Government of India with the Padma Shri in 1992 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015.
