'Manjummel Boys' producer, actor arrested

Malayalam actor and producer Soubin Shaheer has been arrested in a major financial scam case. The police have said that the arrest is related to the film 'Manjummel Boys' and its box office earnings. Along with Soubin, his father Babu Shaheer and his associate Shaan Antony have been summoned by the police for questioning. It is reported that the arrests of Babu Shaheer and Shaan Antony are about to be officially registered. However, since the High Court has given the opportunity to get bail before the arrest, they will be released on bail at the police station itself.
Soubin Shaheer's production company Parava Films, which produced the film 'Manjummel Boys', is now being investigated for financial fraud. A person named Siraj Valiyaveettil from Alappuzha has made serious allegations regarding the film. He has claimed that he invested Rs. 7 crores in the film and that he invested only because he was told that the total budget of the film was Rs. 22 crores. But later he said that the total budget spent on the film was only Rs. 18.65 crore. Moreover, he alleged that he has not yet received 40 percent of the profits he was supposed to get as per the agreement.
Based on this complaint, the police started an investigation and submitted a report to the High Court against Soubin and others. The police report stated that the accused in this case planned to cheat and mislead Siraj. Last year, the Income Tax Department also conducted searches at the offices of Soubin Shaheer, Parava Films, Dream Big Films and producer Shaan Antony.
During these searches, allegations were made against Soubin Shaheer for not filing tax returns and hiding important financial documents. The film Manjummel Boys became one of the highest-grossing films in the Malayalam film industry. It was recognized as the first Malayalam film to cross the Rs. 200 crore mark. The film received special reception in Kerala as well as Tamil Nadu.
