‘iBomma’ warning to police

The piracy website ‘iBomma’, which is causing huge losses to the Telugu film industry, has recently become a sensation. Soon after the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) filed a complaint with the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police, the police started taking action against more than 65 piracy websites.
According to former Hyderabad CP CV Anand, Telugu films lost Rs 3,700 crore due to piracy in 2024 alone. Piracy is mainly done in two ways. Hacking the recording and digital distribution servers in theaters secretly and stealing HD prints. Moreover, these websites are getting transactions worth crores of rupees through advertisements of online gaming and betting apps, and those transactions are in cryptocurrency. In this context, the police have warned that action should be taken against the piracy website ‘iBomma’ as well.
The piracy site iBomma responded differently to the police warning. ‘Do heroes need so much remuneration? There are many people in the film industry. Don’t talk about what they will become. A large percentage of the film budget is spent on remunerations and shootings abroad and trips. They are spending an unnecessary budget and pushing it on us to recover that budget and selling it at a higher price. Distributors and theater owners are increasing the ticket amount to collect that amount,’ the iBomma website gave a special note raising some points.
If iBomma is targeted, this piracy site said that it will also tell them where to focus. It also said in its post that no matter which country they are in, they will think about India and Telugu people. If you watch this scene.. it is clear that the government and the industry are taking strict measures against piracy of films, the websites are technologically very advanced. Overall.. this will be a serious challenge for the Telugu film industry.
