The Central Board of Film Certification has expressed its deep displeasure over the OTT screening of the Malayalam movie 'Marco'. No matter what certificate the film has already been given, the telecast rights have been canceled due to its extreme violence.Censor Board Regional Officer Nadeem Tufali informed this matter in writing to the Chairperson. “Marco's film has a lot of gore and we feel it is not suitable for family audience. He said that Censor formalities are limited to certification only."Parents should take care that their children do not watch such movies,".

On the other hand, the Film Employees Federation of Kerala said that some politicians and youth groups have misunderstood the impact of films. The argument that people follow violence after watching movies is not correct. This was revealed in a social media statement.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, however, disagreed with this argument. He said during the debate on the presidential proposal in the Assembly that the recently released movies like 'Avesham' are having a violent effect on the youth. The discussion was held in the wake of recent incidents of violence in Kerala. The incident in which a class 10 student lost his life in a clash between school students in Kollikode and Tamarasheri districts highlighted this.

Sharif Mohammed, the producer of 'Marco', responded to this controversy. “I am taking special care to minimize violence in my next film. We gave the same instructions to the team of 'Catalan'. Applying movie violence to real life is a harmful trend.Film makers should be more careful about this,” he said. As the debate about the effect of film violence on the society is re-emerging, it remains to be seen whether there will be a change in new policies from the producers.
