Anurag is furious with the Censor Board

The decisions taken by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) are being heavily criticized by the film industry. Recently, directors and actors are expressing their dissatisfaction over the Censor Board's objection to the Malayalam film 'Janaki vs. State of Kerala'.
The Censor Board has requested that the name of the heroine in the film be changed, as it is another name for Sita Devi. Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap has reacted strongly to this decision. 'It is strange that the characters should not be given names from the Puranas. Should the characters be given names like XYZ and 123?' he said.
Anurag said, 'It is important to tell the story honestly. Films are not meant to teach moral lessons. Many good stories are not coming to the audience due to such restrictions imposed by the Censor Board.'
He also said that there are language misunderstandings in the Censor Board. During the film 'Satya', where he worked, members misinterpreted a Hindi word and objected. He revealed that he had to bring a dictionary and explain it. 'Now even phones are not allowed inside. How can I explain the matter?' he asked. Anurag believes that in order to protect the independence of cinema, the censor system needs to be restructured.
