The movie 'Jaat' is embroiled in controversy
Bollywood senior hero Sunny Deol is playing the lead role in the latest film Jaat. Directed by Telugu director Gopichand Malineni, the film was released on April 10 and is being successfully screened in theaters. However, the film is now embroiled in a big controversy. The reason is .. it shows LTTE as a terrorist organization.
The hashtag 'Boycott Jaat Movie' is trending on social media right now. Netizens are reacting angrily to the film's portrayal of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, which fought for the rights of Tamils in Sri Lanka, as a terrorist organization.
"I am a Tamilian. It is very wrong to portray the LTTE as a terrorist organization in the movie Jat. The LTTE was formed amidst the violence and crisis that oppressed our nation in Sri Lanka. Don't distort our history as you wish," a netizen responded.
"The LTTE is not a terrorist organization. It is a resistance group. A fighting force that stood against the atrocities committed against Dalits and attempts at extermination. The portrayal of this movement as evil in the movie 'Jaat' is a shameful thing. If history is shown in a distorted form, we will not remain silent..," another netizen reacted.
Meanwhile, there has been no response from the film team on this controversy so far. Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda appears in the role of a Sri Lankan villain in the film as Ranatunga. In this situation, public reaction to the film's storyline is intensifying. Many sources are strongly condemning the mockery of Tamil history.
