September 2025: A superhit month for Tollywood!

Update: 2025-10-01 11:47 GMT

September 2025 can be called a dream run for Tollywood. Many films released not only in the country but also overseas achieved unexpected success.

'Ghaati' flop, 'Little Hearts' super hit

Three films were released at the beginning of the month. Anushka Shetty's 'Ghaati', the unpromoted youthful entertainer 'Little Hearts', and the huge dubbed film 'Madarasi' starring Sivakarthikeyan.

Of these, 'Ghaati', which was the most awaited by everyone and directed by Krish, turned out to be a huge flop. Unable to get even a decent opening, it remained one of the biggest theatrical disasters in recent times. Although 'Madarasi' directed by A.R. Murugadoss did well in Tamil Nadu, the Telugu version could not impress the audience.

The first surprise hit of the month was "Little Hearts" starring Mauli Tanuj Prashanth and Shivani Nagaram. The film, which was released silently, turned out to be a money-spinner. Not only did it impress the trade circles with strong returns, it also crossed the 1 million dollar mark in North America.

'Mirai' Dookudu

Two different films made a splash at the box office in the second weekend. 'Mirai' and 'Kishkindhapuri'. The superhero saga 'Mirai', which came in the lead role of Teja Sajja, shook the box office and became one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. It collected nearly Rs. 150 crores worldwide, not only increasing Teja's stardom, but also gave a good boost to this genre.

Bellamkonda Srinivas's "Kishkindhapuri" has done well. Although it settled for average collections, it gave much-needed relief to both Bellamkonda Srinivas and Anupama Parameswaran.

'OG' star power, tsunami of records

In the last weekend of September, Power Star Pawan Kalyan's most awaited movie "OG" made its entry. With the help of a huge fan following, the movie opened with thunderous collections globally. In six days, it grossed over Rs. 220 crores worldwide. It grossed over $5 million in North America, creating a new record in Pawan Kalyan's career. "OG" is now the highest-grossing film in Pawan Kalyan's career.

Some more disappointments

Movies like "Beauty" presented by Maruthi were completely rejected by the audience. Tamil hero Vijay Antony's latest release "Bhadrakali" also released on September 19 and turned out to be an average hit.

An overall impressive month

From surprise hits to record-breaking films, September showcased Tollywood's box office prowess. With almost all the major releases turning profitable, the industry witnessed one of the most successful months in recent times.
