Piracy gang caught!
The Telangana Cyber Crime Police has busted a piracy gang that is damaging the film industry. Shocking things have come to light in this operation in which six people were arrested. The police have found that a person named Cyril from Tamil Nadu has been running websites since 2020 and has pirated more than 500 movies by employing agents around the world.
He said that they used to hide high-end camera phones in their pockets or popcorn boxes in theaters and get them recorded. Another accused, Ashwini Kumar, hacked digital media servers and directly uploaded 1020 movies. CP CV Anand revealed that he had also hacked government websites like the Election Commission.
He said that the pirated movies were used for advertisements on betting and gaming apps and that Cyril was paid up to Rs. 9 lakh per month. It is estimated that the Telugu film industry has suffered a loss of Rs 3,700 crore due to this gang, which took money in the form of Bitcoin and Crypto. The CP clarified that ‘betting app operators are the ones encouraging piracy gangs.’ The largest piracy gang in the country has been caught in a police operation.
