Nagarjuna slapped me 14 times: Isha Koppikar
Many of this generation of youth may not know how popular Isha Koppikar was in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Apart from Bollywood, she also acted in South Indian films. One of them was the Telugu film “Chandralekha”. This film was a Malayalam remake. It was directed by Krishna Vamsi and starred Nagarjuna in the lead role. In a recent interview, Isha shared an interesting incident about the film. “Nagarjuna slapped me,” she recalled an intense scene.
“I am a completely dedicated actress and wanted to do real method acting,” she said. When she had to show anger in an emotional scene, she couldn’t express the right emotions. To immerse herself in the character, she took a strange decision. She asked Nagarjuna to actually slap her.
“He was shocked when he asked me to hit him hard. He asked, ‘Are you sure you want that?’ But I insisted. It was necessary to be in that moment. In the end, he hit me 14 times,” she said with a laugh. By the time the scene was over, Isha’s face showed slap marks. “The marks were clearly visible on my face,” she said, adding that Nagarjuna felt guilty afterwards.
