Democracy won in Kadapa: Pawan Kalyan
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said that the victory of the Telugu Desam Party candidates in the Pulivendula and Ontimitta Zeddegene by-elections has made the people very happy. He congratulated Mareddy Latha and Muddu Krishna Reddy who won in their respective areas.
Pawan criticized the YSR Congress regime for not even giving them a chance to file nominations in the previous local body elections. He alleged that those who tried to file nominations were attacked and threatened. He said that this time people got the opportunity to vote freely in the elections, which is a good sign of democracy.
Voters freely went to the polling stations because of the polling in Pulivendula. In the past, elections were mostly held unanimously. This time, he said, there was a real contest and the results were announced in a democratic manner.
He said that the people of Pulivendula are saying that after three decades they were able to vote for their favorite people in the local body elections, and this shows how much the situation has changed there.
Pawan explained that the election process was completely as per the rules and the candidates submitted their declarations. He opined that although the elections went smoothly this time, some people unnecessarily criticized the government.
Pawan congratulated the police, staff and officers on election duty for ensuring that no violence took place during the polling.
