Delhi High Court verdict on Aishwarya Rai's petition
Former Miss Universe and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently approached the Delhi High Court. She alleged that several websites and platforms were using her photos and videos without her permission, and some were even broadcasting pornographic videos through AI-generated morphing content.
The High Court, which heard the case, gave a key verdict in favor of Aishwarya Rai. It made it clear that no one should use her photos, videos, and name without her permission. It said that this is a verdict to protect her publicity and personal rights.
The court also issued orders to e-commerce websites, including Google, and other platforms to immediately block the URLs identified in the petition. It made it clear that action should be taken within 72 hours of receiving the notices and that the Central IT Department should monitor this.
The court commented that the misuse of Aishwarya's photos has not only caused her financial loss but also damaged her honor and reputation. With this, it warned that those who use her name and photos without permission will be punished.
