Annapurna Studio.. 50 years of glory!
Everyone would agree that unparalleled efforts and leadership are behind the rise of the Telugu film industry to where it is at the top of the Indian film industry today. The role of Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) was very important in this era. ANR is credited in making Hyderabad the home ground for the Telugu film industry.
ANR paved the way for the development of Telugu cinema by establishing the Telugu film industry in Hyderabad. Prestigious studios like Annapurna Studio and later Ramoji Film City were responsible for taking Telugu cinema to the national and international level.
Annapurna Studio, built by ANR in 1975, became the focal point for the economic development and technological growth of Telugu cinema. Building a studio in a hilly area like Banjarahills in Hyderabad was a bold decision at that time. The construction of this studio not only provided the necessary facilities for film shooting, but also became the main reason for establishing the Telugu film industry in Hyderabad.
Annapurna Studio is now entering its 50th anniversary. On this occasion, Akkineni's family prepared for special celebrations. In an exclusive video shared by Nagarjuna, he talks about the struggles his parents went through for the studio and how much they loved every part of the studio.
Nagarjuna said that they never saw the staff of Annapurna Studio as employees, they considered them as family members. He said that ANR used to have breakfast with the staff every year on the day of the Sankranthi festival when the studio opened, and now he is continuing that tradition.
